Evaluation Plans
Overview
Evaluation plans allow users to generate evaluations in bulk for a list of facilities. Users can select multiple evaluation types and date ranges, and the system will generate evaluations for every combination of those selections.
Searching Evaluation Plans
Evaluation plans can be searched using global search or the site navigation menu. For more information, see the Search by Topic page.
To view an existing evaluation plan, click the Open button next to it.
Creating an Evaluation Plan
To create an evaluation plan:
Click the Add New Evaluation Plan button at the top of the Evaluation Plans page.
Enter a name for the plan and select the workgroup that the plan should be associated with.
Click the Save button.
Adding Evaluations to a Plan
The process of adding evaluations to an evaluation plan includes searching for and selecting sites to evaluate and configuring evaluation details.
To begin, click the Open button next to an evaluation plan, then click the Add Evaluation(s) button.
Searching for Sites to Evaluate
Clicking the Add Evaluation(s) button opens the Search Sites panel. To search for sites:
Click the search bar next to the page title to open the search panel.
Enter desired search criteria, such as name, site type, county, or permit category.
Click the Search button.
Searching for Sites Through an nVISAGE Report
Sites may also be searched within an nVISAGE report. To do this:
Click the Search by nVISAGE Report button in the search panel. A list of folders containing reports appears.
Click a folder name to view its reports or enter the report name in the Filter Reports field.
Click a report name to select it.
To clear the selected report, click the Clear button at the top of the list.
Enter additional criteria as needed in the search panel to further filter the report.
Click the Search button.
Only reports that are located in the “Inspection Plans” folder (or subfolders) in nVISAGE and that include the Regulated Entity (Site, Person, or Organization) data source are available for selection.
Selecting Sites to Evaluate
To select sites to evaluate:
Select the checkbox next to each site to be evaluated. Selecting a site opens the Evaluation Queue panel, and each additional site selected is automatically added to the queue.
To add all sites in the search results to the Evaluation Queue, click the topmost checkbox (to the left of the Site Name column heading).
Perform additional searches and select more sites as needed. All selected sites are added to the same Evaluation Queue.
The search results display one row for each active permit at the returned sites, so a site may appear multiple times if it has more than one active permit. To help avoid selecting the same site more than once, filter results by permit category or type.
Assigning Evaluation Details for Selected Sites
Beneath the Evaluation Queue, the fields in the Assign Evaluation Details section (described below) allow users to efficiently define multiple evaluations. Users can select multiple evaluation types and plan years, quarters, or dates, and the system will generate evaluations for every combination of those selections.
For example, selecting seven sites, one evaluation type, and two evaluation dates will result in fourteen evaluations (7 sites × 1 type × 2 dates).
To assign evaluation details:
Complete relevant fields in the Assign Evaluation Details section.
Click the Add n Evaluation to Plan button, where “n” reflects the total number of evaluations to be created based on the selected sites, evaluation types, and evaluation periods. The Search Sites page closes, and the Evaluation Plan Detail page displays the newly added evaluations.
Assign Evaluation Details Fields
The following fields appear in the Assign Evaluation Details section.
Field | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
For EPA Commitment | A checkbox indicating whether the agency is committing to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to complete the evaluations within the plan’s timeframe. | Visibility of this field is configurable by evaluation type. To manage visiblity, navigate to Admin > Lookups > Evaluation Types. |
Evaluation Type | The type of evaluation to be generated. | Multiple types may be selected. |
Workgroup | The workgroup to which the evaluation will be assigned. |
|
Evaluator | The user to whom the evaluation will be assigned. |
|
Plan Year & Quarter | The plan year or quarter during which the evaluation is to be completed. | Multiple plan years or quarters may be selected. When a plan year or quarter is selected, the Scheduled Date for the evaluations is set to the last day of the the selected plan year or quarter. Fiscal years and quarters are configured directly in the database (DATE_DIM table). The default fiscal year runs from October 1 to September 31. |
Date Control | The date by which the evaluation is to be completed. | Multiple dates may be selected. |
Evaluation details can be further refined after they are added to the plan by clicking the Open button next to the evaluation. This can be particularly helpful for assigning evaluations to different inspectors.
