Submission Action Categories and Types

Submission Action Categories and Types

Overview

Action categories and types define the nature of permit change submissions and drive certain system behaviors, such as data flow for reporting and permit expiration reminders.

Submission Action Categories and Types

Submission action categories indicate the general intent of a permit change submission (for example, “Reissuance”). Submission action types provide more detailed descriptions of the change (for example, “Reissuance for Expired Permit” or “Revocation and Reissuance”). Each action type is linked to an action category.

It is very important that each action type be assigned an action category. Some system functions—such as Integrated Compliance Information System (ICIS) flow logic—rely on action categories to correctly interpret submission intent (such as identifying renewal applications).

Submission action categories can be customized by a system administrator in the database table dbo.REF_APP_REQST_ACTN_CATG. Submission action types can be customized on the Submission Action Types lookup page (Admin > Lookups > Submission Action Types).

Submission action types assigned to a form can be viewed on the Dates and Deadlines tab of the form’s Form Details page. If multiple action types are assigned (for example, “Modification” and “Minor Modification”), the processor can manually select the appropriate one during processing. For more information, see the Form Details - Dates and Deadlines Tab page.

System Behavior Linked to Submission Action Types

Submission action types influence certain system behaviors related to permit expiration and renewal. These behaviors are configured at the permit category level. For more information, see the Permit Categories page.
