Permit Conditions
Overview
Permit Conditions are blocks of narrative that can be added to a permit describing a standard set of applicable requirements or provisions. By defining these common conditions, the text can be standardized, and users may select them as applicable on a permit rather than typing in detail. When a permit condition is added to a permit, the condition description is editable by the user if customized condition text is needed. Condition text can then be merged into permit document templates or used to report metrics on permits that contain specific provisions.
When developing document templates, the permit condition's narrative description can be merged directly into the document template, or the presence of the condition can be used to trigger the inclusion of a section of text. The latter is useful if the condition results in the inclusion of complex and/or formatted narrative in the generated document such as multiple paragraphs, tables, or sections with headings.
Managing Permit Conditions
To manage permit conditions, navigate to Admin → Lookups → Permit Conditions. The Permit Conditions List screen displays all available permit conditions.
The Permit Conditions tab will not appear on the permit functional area for a permit unless permit conditions have been defined for the related permit category.
Adding or Editing a Permit Conditions
From the Permit Conditions List page, either click the Add New Permit Condition button or Open an existing permit condition. This opens the Edit Permit Condition page:
The following fields are displayed on the screen:
Field | Description |

Permit Condition Code | The internal reference code used to uniquely identify the permit condition. |
Permit Condition Description | The text description for the permit condition. This value is used when selecting a permit condition on a permit, and on permit list screens. |
Permit Condition Long Description | This provides a long text description for a permit condition. The long text would typically be used in a permit template for document generation. |
Permit Category | Specifies the related permit category to which the condition may be applied, e.g., if the permit is in the specified category, it may be selected for inclusion in the Permit Condition tab of the permit under development. |
Sequence | Provides a sort sequence for the condition selection on the Permit Condition tab. This is also a default sort sequence for the condition within the Permit Conditions list screen. |
Is Repeatable | Specifies whether the permit condition may be specified multiple times on the same permit. |
Saving Changes
To save changes, click the Save button. A message is displayed confirming the save. To cancel saving or return to the list after saving, click the Cancel button.
Inactivating or Activating a Permit Condition
The Status displays in the right side panel. The Inactive | Active toggle control activates or inactivates the availability of a permit condition for inclusion on new permits.
