Inspection Review

Inspection Review

Overview

After an inspection is performed, it can be assigned to another user for review. While under review, both the assigned reviewer and the original inspector can view and edit the inspection. The review concludes when either the reviewer or the inspector marks the inspection complete.

Both the web and mobile versions of nSPECT allow inspections to be assigned for review; however, only the web version currently supports searching for inspections in In Review status. This capability will be added to nSPECT Mobile in a future release.

Initiating an Inspection Review

The process for assigning an inspection for review differs slightly between the web and mobile versions of nSPECT, but both follow the same two main steps:

  • Assign a reviewer.

  • Request the review.

If a reviewer is not assigned to an inspection before the inspection review is requested, the inspection is added to the unassigned review list (for more information, see the Searching for Inspections Needing Review section below).

For nSPECT installations deployed as part of the nVIRO product, the reviewer is automatically set to the inspector’s workgroup supervisor. If this assignment is correct, the manual reviewer selection step can be skipped.

Assigning a Reviewer and Requesting a Review (Web)

To assign an inspection for review on the web version of nSPECT:

  • On the Inspections List homepage, click the menu icon next to the inspection that needs review.

  • Select the Edit Inspection Details option from the dropdown menu. A dialog box opens with the inspection details.

Withdrawing an Inspection Review

If an inspection is marked as In Review but later determined not ready, it can be moved back to In Process status by editing the inspection details and clearing the Review Requested Date.

Performing an Inspection Review

This function is not yet available on nSPECT Mobile. Reviews must be performed using the web version of nSPECT.

Once an inspection review is requested, reviewers can search for the inspection and perform the review.

Searching for Inspections Needing Review

To view inspections needing review, click the check icon at the bottom of the Inspection List homepage.

The check icon

If the check does not appear, the user does not have the necessary permissions to perform reviews. To update permissions, contact an nSPECT administrator.

By default, the Inspection Review List shows inspections assigned to the current user for review. To view inspections assigned to other users, select the user’s name from the reviewer search box at the top of the page. To view inspections under review that are not assigned to a specific reviewer, choose “<Unassigned>.”

Performing an Inspection Review

The inspection review process involves examining the inspection forms to verify the inspector’s answers. Reviewers can update any answers during the review and should communicate any feedback or required corrections to the inspector. Because both the inspector and reviewer have edit access while the inspection is in review, they should collaborate on any corrections or changes to the inspection data.

Marking the Inspection Complete

Both the reviewer and the inspector can mark an inspection as Complete while it is in review. Once both users are satisfied with the inspection data, either can click the Mark Inspection Complete button from the Inspection Review List or the Inspections List.

After an inspection is marked complete, it is removed from nSPECT.
