Saving Login Credentials when using Active Directory Authentication
If your environment is integrated with standard Windows Active Directory authentication, the following configuration may need to be set in windows to avoid prompting for credentials (in particular when working with the document editor.
Configure Chrome to allow Windows Authentication without prompting Â
Windows Integrated Authentication allows a user's Active Directory credentials to pass through their browser to a web server. Windows Integrated Authentication is enabled by default for Internet Explorer but not Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Users who use the non-Microsoft browsers will receive a pop-up box to enter their Active Directory credentials before continuing to the website. This adds additional steps and complexity for users who are using web based applications.
To resolve the issue in Chrome, add your site into the Trusted Sites zone in Internet Properties and set "Automatic logon with current user name and password" in Local Intranet and Trusted Sites zones.
Open 'Internet Options'.
Type "Internet Options" in the Start menu search bar.
Add your site to the list of trusted sites:
Select the Security tab
Select the Trusted Sites icon
 Click the Sites button.
Add the URL of the nViro web app to the list of websites.
Modify the security level for the 'Trusted Sites' zone to allow automatic logon with current username/password.
Click the Custom Level... button
Scroll to the bottom and select the 'Automatic logon with current user name and password' option.
It's under the 'User Authentication > Logon' section.Click OK to save all the changes and close the Properties window.
That's it! Your next nViro logon prompt should be the last one you have to submit for awhile.
If you would like to force the AD authentication prompt to appear again:Â close all Chrome windows and remove the URL from the list of trusted sites.Â
