Field

Description

Limit Type

Indicates whether the limit is Optional, Required, or Limited:

Optional Monitoring: Allows for optional reporting of measurements if taken. A violation is not created if left blank on a DMR.

Required Monitoring: Requires that a value be reported; however, there is no minimum or maximum threshold is specified. A violation is created if not reported on a DMR.

Limit: A minimum or maximum threshold is enforced. Data entry is required on the DMR, and a violation is created if the threshold is exceeded.

Limit Value Qualifier
Limit Value

This field is displayed when Limit Type is “Limit”.

Indicates the minimum or maximum allowed threshold for calculation of violations.

When the Value Qualifier is left blank, DMR value exceedence calculations are based on the selected Statistical Base code:

  • For statistical base codes of Average or Maximum, the DMR value will create a violation if the reported value is greater a valid (non-violation) DMR value must be less than the limit value.

  • For statistical base codes of Minimum, the DMR value will create a violation if the reported value is less a valid (non-violation) DMR value must be greater than the limit value.

Value qualifiers, if specified, should match the greater than/less than evaluation criteria of the specified Statistical Base described above. For example Average/Maximum statistical bases should be used with < or <= whereas Minimum statistical bases should only be used with > or >=. In other words, the qualifier used defines the non-violation state of a reported DMR value.

Statistical Base

For DMR Summary reporting, indicates what type of aggregation formula to use when reporting minimums, averages, and maximums for the limit over a DMR reporting period.

Basis

The basis for the limit. Not required. Selection has no bearing on DMR generation or calculation logic.

Comments

Displayed as a button with an ellipsis (…). Allows for the optional entry of comments related to the limit. Comments are not displayed on a DMR.

Quantity Unit

The unit of measure for the quantity/loading limits. Available choices are only the quantity units that apply to the selected parameter.

Quality/Concentration Area

Defines monitoring requirements and effluent limits for concentrations (e.g., measurements in milligrams per liter).

Concentration Unit

The unit of measure for the quality/concentration limits.

Sample Frequency

The frequency at which the samples are to be taken. Displayed on the DMR form.

Sample Type

The type of sample to be taken. Displayed on the DMR form. Available choices are only the concentration units that apply to the selected parameter.
