What is nSPECT?

nSPECT is a mobile inspection application that was designed by and for field inspectors. nSPECT has been designed to serve both the needs of the small organizations as well as enterprise-level applications, integrating with corporate-scale data systems. nSPECT is integrated into Windsor's nVIRO product suite.

nSPECT is available as a desktop web application or as a mobile app available from the Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS. Both the desktop and mobile options offer similar functionality, although the mobile app provides a more streamlined user interface.

The application features an offline mode that allows inspections to be performed even when internet access is not available. Data is saved as entered and, once connected again, data is automatically synchronized with the central nSPECT server.

What are the Key Capabilities of nSPECT?

Design Inspection Forms

nSPECT provides the ability for users to define and publish new inspection forms without the need for any IT support. Multiple sections may be defined for each form, and each section may contain one or more controls. Form sections may be defined as single-instance, or may be configured as repeating sections that allow users to add sections to the form when capturing the same type of data for multiple inspection items.

nFORM supports a rich suite of controls for users to build forms to meet their needs, including:

  • Form/section-level instructions

  • Entry Fields

    • Single line text

    • Number

    • Date

    • Time

    • URL

    • Yes / No / NA selection

    • Single-select – as drop-down or radio buttons

    • Multi-select – as drop-down or check boxes

    • Multi-line Text Paragraph

  • Specialized controls

    • Table (containing multiple entry fields per row)

    • GPS coordinates

    • Location table

    • Signature / Drawing

Form controls may be designed to automatically mark answers as violations, or to create violation records in nVIRO based upon certain answers.

Once published, forms are available to users in the organization.

Prepare for Inspections

Schedule inspections when you need them.

Scheduling (adding) an inspection can be done whether the user is in the office or in the field. Inspections may be added directly in nSPECT, or scheduled into nSPECT from nVIRO. All of the forms needed to record an inspection are available as needed by a user. Users may add one or more forms to support various types of inspections.

Review scheduled inspections.

Users may prepare by viewing inspection forms ahead of the inspection.

Pre-fill inspections

Streamlined, efficient recording of inspection data is facilitated through pre-filling of form data. nSPECT forms can be configured to pull data from nVIRO or other data systems to pre-populate the inspection form, reducing data entry and allowing the user to more easily confirm the accuracy of the data for a given site.

Conduct Inspections

Complete inspection forms and related annotations.

Inspection forms are completed by answering and annotating controls designed on the form. Depending on the form's design, controls can support the following features:

  • automatic marking of violations based upon control answers

  • manual marking of violations

  • adding comments to a control

  • attaching photos to a control

  • marking an exact GPS location related to the control

Navigate between forms quickly

nSPECT is designed for ease of use. Forms are automatically downloaded to the tablet and are immediately ready for use in the field. Navigation between forms or form sections is fast and easy.

Post-Inspection

View and edit data quickly

After returning from the field, inspection data is automatically synchronized to the nSPECT server. Since nSPECT works similarly on a tablet as it does on a desktop, users can quickly find and edit responses. Summary data can be collected in the field and further refined at the inspector's desktop.

Generate inspection reports

The complete results from the inspection can be generated as a formatted inspection report. Additionally, when needed, non-compliance notices may be generated with just a few clicks.

Eliminate dual data entry

Once the user has completed documenting the inspection, the data and inspection reports can be automatically pushed to nVIRO, or to another compliance and enforcement data management system. Inspections and violations can be inserted directly into the data system, reducing the chance of inaccurate data entry.
