Overview

Splitting or merging a site is used when certain items have been created on an incorrect site, or more commonly, a duplicate site has been created. In this case, the whole of the items on the new site can be merged to the correct site, or a few items can be split to the correct site depending on what is needed. 

Splitting a Site

In order to move a permit/evaluation On some occasions, internal users might need to split a single site into two separate sites, or to move certain items from one site to another. Conversely, it might sometimes be necessary to combine two sites into a single site, such as when duplicate sites have been created in error. All of these functions can be performed using the Split/Merge button on the Site Details page.

Splitting a Site

To move a permit or compliance action to another site, visit the Site Details page of the site you want to split. Click the Split/Merge button. This button is only visible to users with a certain role.

The Split/Merge Site panel is displayed. Begin to type the name of the target site, and a list will appear to select of matching sites is displayed in the dropdown list. (If you want to move items to a brand new site, you’ll need to create the site first so that it will appear as a matching option in the dropdown list.) Select the target site. If moving permits/evaluations only selected permits or compliance actions to another site, choose Selected Compliance Actions/Permits in the Items to Move field. The available permits will appear below. Select the permit numbers to move. After clicking Continue, as well as the double confirmation of clicking Yes. The items that were selected will be transferred to the new and compliance actions are displayed. Use the checkboxes to select the items to move and then click Continue. A confirmation dialog box is displayed; click Yes to proceed. The selected items are moved to the target site. 

Merging Sites

In order to To merge all of the items to another site, follow the process above and select , this time selecting Everything (Merge) in the Items to Move field.

Merged Site Results

When sites have been merged the following occurs:

  • All items are moved to the target site, and the status of the original site is set to Inactive.

  • Audit History is added to affected records (e.g., Site, Permit, Evaluation, Submission, Project).

  • A Site Alternative Name is added to the new site with the old site's name as "Historical".

  • A Site Relationship is added between the two sites with a relationship type of "Merged From/To".
