Overview

The site record is the centerpiece of nVIRO. All other information in the system is associated with a site.

In nVIRO, a “site” is a flexible record type used to represent any entity being tracked or regulated, including physical locations, individuals, and organizations involved in environmental activities. When a site record is created, it is assigned a category—Site, Person, or Organization—which determines available settings and unique behavior.

A fourth category, Beach, can also be configured to represent monitored beach locations.

Sites can be related to one another. For example, an organization may be associated with multiple sites, each with its own permits, evaluations, and compliance actions. (Note relationships between organization and site records in nVIRO are informational only.)

Site Statuses

Site records have three available statuses: Pending, Active, or Inactive

Status

Pending

An external user has submitted the first form related to the site, but it has not yet been assigned for processing.

Sites created by internal users bypass this status.

Active

The first submission related to the site has been assigned for processing.

Once a site becomes active, it remains in that status as long as it is a unique entity in the system.

Inactive

The site has been merged with another site.

The new site can be found on the Relations tab of the Site Details page.

Deactivating a site does not affect its permits, compliance actions, inspections, violations, or other records. Internal users can continue to perform evaluations and other tasks on an inactive site.

Only administrators can change a site from Inactive to Active status.
