Site Relations
Overview
The Relations tab lists entities related to the current record.
Fields
The following fields are available on the Relations tab.
Field | Description |

Category | The related entity type (site, person, or organization). |
Related Entity Name | The name of the related entity. |
Relationship With Current Entity | The nature of the relationship between the current record and the related entity. |
Related Entity Number | The related entity’s system identification number. |
Start Date | When the site relationship began. |
End Date | When the site relationship becomes inactive. |
Status | The current status of the relationship. |
Active Permits | Permit numbers of active permits issued to the related entity. |
The final column on this page includes options to open and edit the relationship, open and edit the related entity record, or delete the relationship.
Adding a Relationship
To add a relationship between the current record and another entity:
Click the Add New Relationship button.
Search for and select the target entity.
Select a relationship type (see below).
Click the Relate button.
New relationships are in Active status by default, even if no start date is entered or the start date is in the future.
Relationship Types
Relationship types describe how two linked records are connected. Relationships can be directional or non-directional:
A non-directional relationship uses the same description regardless of which record its viewed from (for example, “Same Owner”).
A directional relationship has different descriptions depending on the direction of the relationship (for example, “Owned By” and “Owns”).
When adding a directional relationship, both sides of are available for selection.
Editing a Relationship
Clicking the Open Relationship button opens a panel for editing a relationship. Users may change the relationship type or description, add or change the start or end date, or add a comment to provide more information about the relationship.
Any changes made to relations are recorded in the Audit History for both the current and related records.
If a record is merged or split, a relation is automatically created, noting the merge/split action.
Deactivating a Relationship
A relationship becomes inactive when its end date passes.
To deactivate a relationship:
Click the Open Relationship button.
Enter an end date. If needed, add a comment to provide additional information about the end date or the reason the relationship is being deactivated.
Click the Save button.
If the end date is in the past, the relationship becomes inactive immediately. If the end date is in the future, the relationship remains active until that date.
