Working with Sites

Searching Sites

Sites can be searched through basic search or advanced search (site-specific topic search). For more information, see the Basic Search and Topic Search pages.

Creating a Site

Sites can be created by external users through the submission of a form or by internal users with appropriate permissions.

Creating a Site as an External User

External users can create a new site by submitting its first form. If the user is already associated with another site, they can click the Create New Site button. If they aren’t associated with any sites, the form will prompt them to enter a new site name.

When an external user creates a site, they are automatically assigned an administrator role for it. Administrators can edit site details, invite and deactivate users, and request certifier permissions for other users.

Depending on system configuration, a user’s certifier status may also default to Approved when they create a site, allowing them to submit forms that require certifier status.

Creating a Site as an Internal User

Internal users can create a site by clicking the Create New Site, Person or Organization button on the Basic or Advanced Search pages.

When the New Site page opens, complete relevant fields, then click the Save button. For information on specific fields, see the Viewing and Editing Site Details page.

Users in an environment with beaches enabled and “ManageBeachSites” permissions will see a Create New Site, Person, Organization, or Beach button. The process for creating sites is the same.

Creating a Nickname for a Site

To create a nickname for a site, begin by clicking the current user’s initials in the main navigation menu, then clicking the Profile & Settings link.

When prompted, enter the nickname, then click the Save button.

The Edit Nickname dialog

To make a site nickname available as a site alternative name, the SITE.NICKNAME.ADD_SITE_ALT_NAME setting must be enabled in the deployment settings. If this is disabled, nicknames will only be available to the user that created them.

Editing a Site Nickname

If a site nickname has been added, an (edit nickname) link appears under it on the Sites tab. Click the link to edit the nickname, then click the Save button.
