Searching Permits
Permits may be searched from the Global Search, or when viewing a site, from the Site Navigation Menu.
Search Permits from the Global Search
From the Global Search Search by Topic (New UI), click on Permits to display the Permit Search page.
The Permits List page is displayed, allowing for searching of permits by various criteria such as permit number, permit category and type, and permit status.
Click the Open button to view or edit the permit details for the selected permit.
When viewing a site, click the Permits option in the navigation menu to view the permits for a selected site. Click the Open button on any row to view the Permit Details.
Creating a New Permit
Users may expect that they can simply add a permit directly to nVIRO; however, this is not the case. Permits are created by adding a workflow to a submission where the selected workflow template creates a new permit. This is because permits are the result of some triggering action, such as the receipt of a permit application from an external party.
Modifying an In Effect Permit
A modification creates a new version or revision of the permit. For more on permit versions and revisions, see the Permit Versions section on the Permits and Authorizations page.
Permit versions and revisions are created by adding a workflow to a submission where the selected workflow template indicates that a new version or revision of an existing permit will be created. Note that only permits with an active status can be versioned or revised. For more information on permit modification behavior see this article.
Editing an In Process Permit
Draft permits or permit versions can be edited provided the user has permission (through permit assignment, task assignment, or security roles). Draft permits are accessed from the Home Menu Permit list or the Site Menu Permit list as described above. They may also be accessed from the Application (via link in the application details).
Terminating/Inactivating a Permit
Like all the other permit actions listed above, terminations are also triggered by adding a workflow to a submission where the selected workflow template has been configured to unlock an active permit for editing. To terminate a permit, update the status of the permit to Terminated and supply a termination date. If the termination date is today or before, the status is updated immediately upon saving. If the termination date is in the future, the permit will remain active until the termination date is reached, at which point the status will automatically be set to terminated.
When a permit is terminated, any schedules that were due after the termination date are set to Closed status. Any schedules that were due before the termination date are still available for submission.
Permit Permissions
Permits are typically only available for editing when in a draft status. When a permit becomes active, the permit details are no longer editable.
For non-administrators, a given permit will be editable depending on the user roles to which they belong:
Basic Level Permissions: The permit status is draft, and the current user is either the assigned processor or has an assigned task on an active submission relating to the permit.
Workgroup Level Permissions: The permit status is draft and the current user is a member of the same workgroup as the assigned processor on an active submission relating to the permit.
The following special permissions allow for additional rights:
Permit Status Administrator: Can change the status of any permit, such as changing from an inactive to active status.
Permit Compliance Manager Editor: Can change the compliance manager of any permit, regardless of permit status.
