How Contacts are Created on New Permit Versions/Revisions

When a new permit version or revision is created, information is copied forward from the existing permit version to the new permit version.

New Permit versions are created when a workflow is added to a submission and the selected workflow template is configured to create a new permit version.

The workflow template can be configured to copy contacts forward in one of two ways:

  • Copy Contacts from Submission and Previous Permit Version - When selected, the contacts from the previous permit version and the submission are both copied to the new permit version/revision created by the submission.

  • Copy Contacts from Submission Only - When selected, only the contacts provided in the new submission are copied to the new permit version/revision. The contacts from the previous permit version are not copied.

Merging Contacts from both a Submission and the Prior Permit Version

This section describes the logic applied when when contacts are merged from the submission and previous permit version.

If a contact exists on both the submission and existing permit version that shares the same contact name, the contact information from the submission will be carried forward to the new permit version. All other contacts from both the submission and the existing permit are carried forward onto the new permit version.

In the event that there is no contact with a Permittee role on the existing permit version or the submission, the submission’s applicant contact will become the permittee on the new permit version.

The diagram below illustrates an example of contact combination behavior when a new permit version is created.
