Component Types
Overview
Component types link nFORM forms to functional area records, allowing configurable data entry forms to be added to nVIRO.
Searching Component Types
To view all available component types, navigate to Admin > Lookups > Component Types.
Adding or Editing a Component Type
On the Component Types page, click the Add New Component Type button to add a new component type, or click on an existing component type to edit it.
The following fields appear on the New Component Type and Edit Component Type pages.
Field | Description | Notes |

Component Type Code | A unique identifier for the component type. |

Component Type Name | A brief, descriptive name for the component type. | This name appears in the Description column of the Component Types page, above the form name. |
Functional Area | The functional area to which the component type relates. |

Program Area(s) | The program area(s) to which the component type applies. | Select program areas only if the component type should be limited to specific program areas. |
Allow this Component Type to be Added Multiple Times to Target Entity | The option to allow the same component form to be added to the same record more than once. | This can be useful when a component type is used to track data that changes from year to year. |
Summary Description Formula | The formula used to generate a summary description of data entered in the component form. | If configured, the summary description appears on the Program Components tab of functional area records, next to components of this type. |
Show 'Copy to Clipboard' button on program component list screen to copy Summary text | The option to enable a Copy Text button in the Summary column on the Program Components tab of functional area records, next to components of this type. |

Workgroups | Workgroups allowed to edit data for components of this type. | Select workgroups only if editing should be limited to specific workgroups. Members of assigned workgroups will be able to edit component data even if they do not have permission to edit the component’s parent record. |
Permit Program Component Editability Type | Users allowed to edit data for components of this type after a permit is issued. | This field is only displayed if the permit functional area is selected. Permissions can be granted to either system administrators or to compliance managers and supervisors. |
Saving Changes
To save changes, click the Save button. A message box opens, prompting the user to confirm the save. To cancel saving or to return to the list after saving, click the Cancel button.
Right Sidebar
The Edit Component Type page also includes a right-hand sidebar, which features an Inactive | Active toggle, the form linked to the component type (configured on the Form Details page), and a brief edit history showing when and by whom the component type was created and last updated.
